Meta And YouTube Criminal Complaint

Privacy consultant Alexander Hanff told The Register that Meta’s data collection without prior consent breaches Ireland’s computer abuse law.

Mr. Hanff said he notified Pearse Street Garda and will send further information to them.

Two weeks ago, the privacy consultant filed a complaint against YouTube’s ad system, where videos don’t run unless ads are allowed.

Mr Hanff said the tech giant has no legal basis for collecting data as it doesn’t abide by local laws.

“(Meta) illegally deployed surveillance technology to my computers for the purpose of monitoring my behavior, as they had no reasonable excuse or lawful authority to do so,” he said.
