The Sydney Morning Herald reported that girls younger than 13 were strip-searched between July 2022 and July 2023.

The report mentioned that police forced little girls to remove clothes under the pretext of security checks.

107 Children Were Affected

The report revealed that 107 children were strip-searched under the guise of security measures in the last 3 years alone.

The youngest boy subjected to this shameful behavior was only 14 years old.

30% out of all the victims were females, and 20% belonged to indigenous communities in Australia, The Sydney Morning Herald report said.

When Can Police Strip Search?

According to Australian law, police officers can employ such tactics if the situation is serious.

However, experts are skeptical as they can’t confirm whether those strip-searched had a parent or guardian nearby when searched.
